Palladium to Rebrand Riviera Maya Resort and Upgrade 12 Properties

Spanish hotelier Palladium Hotels & Resorts will invest US$21 million to upgrade a dozen properties in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. The move is part of an effort to improve quality and consistency across the company’s Caribbean and Mexico portfolio.

Nearly a quarter of the investment is earmarked for upgrading food-and-beverage offerings at the resorts. Specific initiatives include better steak quality, in particular using angus and cowboy cuts; better food quality at all buffets; and stocking higher-quality liquor brands, which will soon include Absolut vodka, Bombay Sapphire gin, Courvoisier liqueur, Don Julio tequila, Havana rum and Stolichnaya vodka.

The hotelier also will increase the number of staff at all 12 properties in the region by 13 percent over 2016. Palladium additionally has named hotel veteran Bernard Wyss to THE newly created position of director of innovation and product development. He will oversee quality and consistency…
